Unofficial song by Arshad submitted for Universal Republic’s consideration for the THG soundtrack.

My opinion: I’m glad that, as far as we know, this song isn’t going to be on the soundtrack. It’s a little too much, too literal, what with the actual quotes from the book. I think the music for the (lyrical) companion soundtrack, and actually soundtrack music in general, should encompass the mood and feel of the source material without having to regurgitate actual quotes. Part of what made the Twilight soundtracks so successful, in my opinion, was that they featured a collection of amazing artists staying true to their own styles but in a way that was made to enhance the movie and the attitude it created. Sure, those songs might’ve said “twilight” a few times, but you never heard a line like, “BELLA YER MY COCAINE.” Taylor Swift and The Civil Wars hit the nail on the head - “Safe and Sound” is perfect for THG without feeling the need to tell us, “Hey, this song is about The Hunger Games. Just in case the fact that it’s on the soundtrack didn’t clue you in.”
